Diagnostics Directorate of Transneft Diascan and Samara branch of the company inspected 645 oil and petroleum products storage tanks in 2020. The diagnostics were performed as part of Transneft’s annual integrated programme of diagnostic examination of pipelines and PS (oil pumping stations) facilities.
Full technical diagnostics with decommissioning was performed at 88 tanks; partial technical diagnostics without decommissioning was performed at 156 tanks.
More than 400 additional inspections, including monitoring of the technical condition of vertical steel tanks and aluminum dome-shaped roofs, monitoring of the condition of the outer and inner anti-corrosion coating were performed. Additional flaw-detection inspection (X-ray) of welded seams, laser scanning and foundations inspection were carried out. During the diagnostic work, the technical condition of the tank’s structures and elements was also investigated: visual and instrumental testing, ultrasonic testing, acoustic emission testing, magnetic particle inspection, industrial radiography, as well as three-dimensional laser scanning were carried out.
Most of the work was carried out at the facilities of Transneft Siberia (104 tanks diagnostics), Transneft Volga Region (67 tanks diagnostics) and Transneft Western Siberia (60 tanks diagnostics).
Moreover, more than 1.8 thousand units of additional equipment used at oil and petroleum products trunk pipelines were inspected by Transneft Diascan in 2020. More than 100 km of process pipelines were inspected, full technical diagnostics was performed at 26 km of oil trunk pipelines and PSs.
Diagnostics of more than 3 thousand mechanical and process equipment units was carried out, 95 automation and pipeline telemetry systems were inspected.
Following the results of the inspection, the condition of the examined facilities was declared satisfactory. The defects detected will be eliminated during scheduled repairs.
