Transneft Diascan Presents Devices for In-Line Inspection at Argentina OIL & GAS Expo 2019 International Exhibition

Date of publication: 02 October 2019

Transneft Diascan has participated in Argentina OIL & GAS Expo 2019. The event was held in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

At the exhibition booth, the Company presented mockup models of in-line inspection tools of its own design and production: a multichannel geometry tool and a WM ultrasonic inspection tool.

Multichannel geometry tools are designed to detect a pipeline’s geometry defects and spatial position. The device is based on the electromechanic principle of measuring the deflection angle of levers in direct contact with the pipe’s inner wall. To determine pipelines’ spatial position, the devices are equipped with a high-accuracy strapdown inertial navigation system.

The ultrasonic inspection tool is designed for nondestructive control (thickness gauging) of pipelines using ultrasonic scanning of the pipe wall, with the inspection tool moving in the flow of the pumped product. It allows detecting defects, such as corrosion, lamination, notches and displacement of girth welds. At present, Transneft Diascan uses fourth-generation ultrasonic inspection tools.

The international Argentina OIL & GAS Expo 2019 is one of the largest industry events in Latin America. This year, more than ten Russian companies took part in the event.
