Transneft Diascan has released 1,700 sterlet juveniles into the Uglich water reservoir in the Volga river in the vicinity of Kalyazin in Tver Region. The environmental compensatory event on artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources was held under the biological diversity preservation corporate programme in the areas of Transneft facilities’ operation for 2019-2021.
As requested by Transneft Diascan, viable sterlet juveniles were raised by professionals at the Konakovsky section of the freshwater fisheries branch of VNIRO — the Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. The juveniles were delivered to the place of release into a natural water body by a special vehicle that ensured the required oxygen and temperature conditions. As per the fish-breeding products acceptance document, the juveniles’ condition was satisfactory and complied with all the standards, as confirmed by the relevant veterinary certificate.
The event has received the necessary approval and is implemented under the aquatic biological resources artificial reproduction plan approved by the Moskva-Oka Territorial Directorate of the Federal Agency for Fishery.
