Transneft Diascan Puts System for Calibration of 16-20’’ Pipelines into Operation

Transneft Diascan has commissioned a multichannel pipeline calibration system developed and manufactured by Transneft Diascan.

The 16-KMK.00-00.000 calibration system allows to calibrate pipelines with the diameters of 406.4 mm (16” API), 426 mm (16” GOST), 457.2 mm (18” API), 508 mm (20” API), 530 mm (20” GOST). The device helps determine flow area in pipelines of 0.6 – 0.85 Dn.  The device project has 24 measuring levers allowing to measure defects’ angular position with the accuracy of up to ±15°.

In addition, the calibration system has a strapdown inertial navigation system, which allows to measure bend radius and angles for pipelines ranging from 1.5 DN to 10 DN, with a measurement accuracy of ± 15% and ± 3°, respectively.

The calibration system was manufactured from January 2017 to February 2019. Earlier, the first 12/14” device of the same type was put into operation.

Transneft Diascan is the largest Russian supplier providing services of technical diagnostics for pipelines with a diameter of 159 to 1220 mm (6” – 48”). The work is carried out using proprietary inspection tools: geometry tools; ultrasonic, magnetic, combined magnetic and combined magnetic ultrasonic inspection tools; ultrasonic devices for multi-angle examination of pipe walls and inspection tools to detect defects in the insulation coating of pipelines. At present, the fleet of modern in-line diagnostic tools of Transneft Diascan consists of more than 90 units.  All of them allow to assess the technical condition of pipeline transportation facilities with high accuracy and ensure environmental safety of hydrocarbon transportation.
