From January to July 2018, the Inspection Directorate of Transneft Diascan inspected 333 oil and petroleum products storage tanks. The inspection efforts were carried out under the integrated programme for diagnostic inspection of pipelines and facilities of Transneft PSs for 2018.
Overall, 56 tanks underwent complete technical inspection with decommissioning, and 58 tanks saw partial technical inspection without removal from operation.
The efforts included 219 additional tank surveys: tank monitoring (37 pieces), technical condition monitoring of aluminium dome-shaped roofs at vertical steel tanks (8 pieces), condition monitoring of external and internal anticorrosive coating (96 pieces), an additional defect detection (X-ray) of welds between the 3rd and the 4th belts of the tank wall (55 pieces), and other work. The survey employed ultrasonic, acoustic emission and industrial radiography inspection methods.
Most of the work was performed at facilities of Transneft Druzhba (58 tanks), Transneft Western Siberia (39 tanks), Transneft Kama Region (38 tanks), Transneft Siberia (35 tanks) and Transneft Urals (29 tanks).
Moreover, starting from early 2018, Transneft Diascan inspected 224 units of ancillary equipment for oil and petroleum product trunk pipelines, inspected 857 units of mechanical process equipment, 141 automation and pipeline telemechanics systems. The Company inspected 52 km of pipelines, performed complete technical inspection of 6 km of oil trunk pipelines (OTPs) and PS.
The inspection efforts were carried out by both in-house specialists of the Company and engaged subcontractors. Based on the inspection results, the facilities were recognised satisfactory, and repair schedules were made to remedy the discovered defects.
