Representatives for Transneft and Transneft Diascan took part in the 14th Meeting of the Permanent Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade-and-Economic-Cooperation. The event was held in Moscow on 5-6 March 2018; Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation headed the Russian team, and the Iranian delegation was led by Masoud Karbasian, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As stated in the signed final minutes of the meeting, in the field of the bilateral oil and gas industry cooperation both sides have a positive outlook on the interaction between Transneft and the Iranian Oil Pipelines & Telecommunications Company (IOPTC) regarding the construction of a dedicated testing ground in Iran for inline flaw-detective devices. The meeting participants also welcomed progress in cooperation between Transneft Diascan and Iranian oil and gas companies in NDT control of the pipeline infrastructure.

In 2016-2017, Transneft Diascan professionals inspected over 4,000 km of pipelines in Iran (some 1,400 km in 2016, to be followed by more than 2,700 km in 2017). The inline inspection was done using BGTs, WM ultrasonic flaw detectors, MFL magnetic flaw detectors, and by combined MFL+TFI magnetic devices.
