Transneft Diascan, JSC developed the new generation defectoscope – diagnostic complex “The ultrasound defectoscope 48-OST.00-00.000” which is designed to detect arbitrarily oriented flaws in pipelines with a diameter of 1,020, 1,067, and 1,220 mm.
The appliance is designed in accordance with the Transneft Diascan, JSC Schedule of Diagnostic Systems Development and after the inspection and test adopted by the Commission of Transneft, JSC.
The new defectoscope includes the ultrasound measuring system comprising sensors of CD and WM types. Compared with the previous analogs, the defectoscope has the improved resolution of the measuring WM system from 5 mm to 3 mm by increasing the number of sensors 1.5 times.
The measuring CD system is first applied in the defectoscope; the sensors of this system can be oriented in nine different directions relative to the longitudinal axis of the pipeline. Therefore the device can detect crack-like defects of longitudinal (CDL), transverse (CDC) directions, spiral welded seams (CDS), and also defects of any other directions relative to the longitudinal axis of the pipeline in a single pass through the pipeline.
