Transneft Diascan, JSC has completed the modernization of the full line of WM ultrasonic flaw detectors. The latest improvement in this series is a diagnostic complex «ultrasonic flaw detector 28 UZD.03-00.000-01», designed for in-line inspection of 28/32˝ (720/820 mm) diameter pipelines.
Acceptance tests of the upgraded unit were carried out in accordance with the Long-term Diagnostic Equipment Development Program of Transneft Diascan, JSC. The Transneft, JSC Acceptance Committee has accepted the unit.
Modernization resulted in enhancement of the following unit characteristics:
• flaw detector resolution increased by 1.5 times;
• the minimum size of detectable «risk-type» pipe wall defects were reduced by 2.5 times in width and by 1.5 times in depth;
• the modernization of electronic equipment reduced the flaw detector’s power consumption by two times;
• the flaw detector’s maximum passing speed through the pipeline increased by 1.6 times.
