Since Start of Year, Transneft Diascan, JSC, Performed Diagnostics of over 5 Thousand Kilometers of Oil Trunk Pipelines

Date of publication: 05 March 2015

In January and February 2015, Transneft Diascan, JSC, inspected 5,017.09  km of oil trunk pipelines (OTP), which corresponds to the planned figures. The main part of diagnostics work was executed on the OTPs of Transneft Volga Region, JSC (1,555.59 km), Transneft East, LLC (1,103.97 km) and Transneft Druzhba, JSC (632.18 km).

In 2015, Transneft Diascan, JSC, has scheduled to perform diagnostics of 48,164.63 km of oil trunk pipelines and 2,929.52 km of oil product trunk pipelines  (OPTP) in total.

Linear section pigging and elimination of defects following the results of the same is one of the key aspects of the environmental policy of Transneft, JSC, to ensure OTPs and OPTP safe operation, which is aimed at reducing the risk of emergency situations associated with environmental impact. The total length of OTPs and OPTPs of Transneft, JSC, exceeds 72.9 thous. km.

Transneft Diascan, JSC, performs diagnostics of pipelines with a diameters of 159 to 1,220 mm, using in-line inspection devices of its own production, the operating principle of which is based on various physical methods of non-destructive testing: calipers, ultrasonic, magnetic and combined magnetic and combined magnetic & ultrasonic flaw detectors. In terms of their technical parameters, they meet the best world standards. Combined magnetic & ultrasonic flaw detectors have no analogues in the world and  make it possible, in one pass, to detect the most part of defects in the linear section.
