The upgrading operations took place from April 2016 to November 2018. The defectoscope underwent acceptance testing at Transneft Diascan’s test ground as well as within a section of an operating oil pipeline.
Transneft presented a model of a combined magnetic and ultrasonic defectoscope as part of its exposition.
The laboratory’s performance of all the procedures provided for by the quality manual, along with the efficiency of the existing quality system, including the results of the laboratory’s participation in interlaboratory comparative tests, were examined during the inspection.
The instrument was engineered by the Company’s designers and intended for inline inspection of oil and petroleum products pipelines with the diameter of 20".
Transneft presented a model of a combined magnetic and ultrasonic defectoscope at its exhibition booth. This pipeline inspection gadget (PIG) had been developed by Transneft Diascan design engineers and is unparalleled in the world today.
The schoolchildren visited several operating facilities, including a diagnostic shop, a test ground, a test laboratory, a polyurethane production shop and the information processing section.
As part of Transneft’s exhibition, Transneft Diascan presented its proprietary advanced developments for in-line inspection.
At the display, the exhibition’s visitors were shown mockup models of unique inspection systems manufactured by Transneft Diascan – combined magnetic (MFL+TFI) and magnetic and ultrasonic (MFL+WM+CD) flaw detectors.
Transneft Diascan presented mockup models of proprietary combined in-line inspection devices: a magnetic in-line defectoscope with axial and circumferential magnetisation (MFL + TFI) and a combined magnetic ultrasonic in-line defectoscope (MFL+WM+CD).
The educational event was held as part of Year of Energy Saving declared in 2018 at Transneft and in Russia as a whole.
