Within the upgrading programme, 10 combined magnetic ultrasonic defectoscopes of three sizes (20”, 28/32” and 40/48”) were improved.
The meeting participants also welcomed progress in cooperation between Transneft Diascan and Iranian oil and gas companies in NDT control of the pipeline infrastructure.
Transneft Diascan’s test ground is unique in terms of its equipment and technical possibilities. The facility has no analogue in the international inspection practice.
During the comprehensive acceptance testing, both devices showed good resistance to climatic and mechanical impact; the testing also proved the passport specifications of defect detection and measurement errors to be compliant with with the job requirements.
The meeting participants discussed the possibility of implementing joint projects in the territory of Algeria, including the ones that involve Transneft Diascan.
By now Transneft Diascan has completed in-line inspection projects in 14 countries. Moreover, in Oman, China and Singapore the Company had never performed inspection before.
All the activities on reducing consumption of fuel and energy resources have been 100% performed, due to which the planned decrease in the indices by 0.5% in comparison with 2016 was achieved.
In comparison with the previous generations, the new geometry tool’s resolving power is 2.5 times higher and it takes interpretation of diagnostic data to the next level.

The senior school students visited a diagnostics shop, where they looked at in-line inspection tools, developed by the enterprise’s constructors, listened to the information on their operation principles and characteristics of each type of defectoscopes.
