In-line inspection implies the detection of defects in linear pipeline sections using in-line inspection equipment (inspection tools), and the assessment of the technical condition of defective sections without pipeline shutdown.
Inspection report includes:
- inspected pipeline data;
- information on the in-line inspection tool used during the inspection;
- information on the detected pipeline features and defects with distinguishing of defects requiring repair;
- pipeline section arrangement data (pipeline logbook).
Additionally, the report can contain a scaled pipeline layout plotted on an electronic map. Together with the geodetic GPS coordinates of reference points (markers), pipeline sections and features (defects), including the inspected pipeline length specified in two systems – odometric and geodesic (GPS coordinates), etc.
